Building new homes in a place like Hackney is hard – due densely populated neighbourhoods, the high cost of construction, the limited number of sites in the Council’s ownership and the need for new homes to be balanced with the other things our borough needs.

We’re committed to delivering genuinely affordable new homes in Hackney, and our residents know their communities best. That’s why we need your views on where we should build them and how we should do it.

We want to hear your views on the types of sites we should prioritise for new homes, the things we should consider when we build, and your suggestions for individual sites that the Council owns that could accommodate new homes.

Your input will help shape a new programme of new Council-led housing developments, delivered by the Council using our own land. 

The questions below relate to your suggestions for Council-owned land that could be considered for redevelopment.
